35 Ways God Attracts Us to Himself

35 Ways God Attracts Us to Himself

True, God is invisible! Yet there are at least 35 ways God attracts us to Himself. Yes, there are many, many ways that God seeks to introduce Himself to humanity!

In this post then we will look at 35 of these ways in order to understand how God desires us to know Him. Get ready for an adventure and abundant delight!

1. God Attracts Us Through Stories in the Bible

Have you ever wondered what is the purpose of the Bible? Well, it is actually a love letter from God to humanity and it largely consists of stories. What? Stories? Why? Because people are attracted to stories and it is the perfect way to hold people’s interest.

So, let us take a journey to see, first of all in a brief survey of the Bible, what we can learn about who God is.

Bible Notation

Note that there is a standard way to reference the Bible. That is, “Genesis 1:1” and “Acts 17:29” are examples of what is known as Bible notation. As for the Bible, it is a collection of books, where each book in the Bible consists of one or more chapters, and each chapter has numbered sections called verses.

The quotation referred to as “Genesis 1:1” is taken from the book with the title Genesis in the Bible, the 1st chapter, and the 1st verse. Similarly, the quotation referred to as “Acts 17:29” is taken from the book with the title Acts in the Bible, the 17th chapter, and the 29th verse.

God Attracts Us to Himself in the Book of Genesis

Here are God’s first words in the Bible, in the beginning of the Bible’s first book, the book of Genesis, with which God attracts us to Himself: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:1, 2.

Clearly, the first thing with which God attracts us to Himself is that He is the Creator of heaven and earth. Now, you might be inclined to say outright that this is not true, but, Hold on! Don’t dismiss God without hearing all that He has to say, for this would mean that there is a breakdown of communication God and yourself.

So, Hear God out. Give God a chance to attract you to Himself.

Now the Bible refers to “the Spirit of God” (Genesis 1:2) and you may be asking, Is this the name of God? The answer is that it could be but we don’t know yet. So, we need to continue reading the Bible to find out.

God also says in Genesis, in the story of Creation, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Genesis 1:26, 27.

Here God attracts us to Himself by stating that He created the human race, both male and female. Isn’t that wonderful news that God is the Parent of humanity? Yes, we came into existence only through God’s action.

So far, we have learned two things about what God has done, But what can we know about God Himself? Well, notice that “God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” Genesis 1:26. So, God speaks of Himself as us and our, which means that the human race has not just one Parent, but more than one.

But the question arises, How many Parents does the human race have? And does this mean that there is more than one God? If so, What are their names? These are good questions and ones that God Himself answers as we will see.

God Attracts Us to Himself in the Book of 1 Chronicles

As we continue reading the Bible in order from the first book, to the second book, to the third book, and so on, we find these words in the book of 1 Chronicles in the story of a man named David: “Wherefore David blessed the LORD [God] before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.” 1 Chronicles 29:10.

So, according to the Bible, we can call God “our father.” 1 Chronicles 29:10. God thus attracts us to Himself by giving us the affectionate title, our Father, by which we may draw close to God.

Up to this point then we have two titles for the Parents of the human race, namely, the Spirit of God and our Father. These do not seem to refer to only one Parent but rather to two distinct Parents of the human race.

God Attracts Us to Himself in the Book of Psalms

In proceeding to read through the Bible in order, we come to the book of Psalms where a psalm is a sacred song. In the second Psalm, we find these words referring to God: “Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath [anger] is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.” Psalm 2:12.

So, another title by which God attracts us to Himself is “the Son.” Psalm 2:12. We may, therefore, conclude that the titles of God, namely, the Spirit of God, the Father, and the Son refer to three distinct Parents of the human race. That is to say, these three titles are not three different ways of referring to one divine Person.

Obviously, to our human minds, the question arises, Is our Parent, the Son, a child of our Parent, the Father? With what we have understood from the Bible so far, we cannot definitively answer this question. So, we must continue reading the Bible in order to find an answer to this question.

Moving on through the Bible, in the ninetieth Psalm, we find that God attracts us to Himself with these words: “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou [God] hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” Psalm 90:2. Here then is a declaration by God that He has always existed.

In other words, there has never been a time when God did not exist. This is indeed a puzzle to the human mind which is used to thinking of birth as the beginning of life, and death as the end of life.

But just because this is all that we know and experience, it does not mean that there are not things that are outside our knowledge and experience. So, in light of this, we accept what God says about Himself, realising that God has an infinite mind and we, as humans, have finite minds which cannot fully understand everything about God.

For if human beings could understand all that there is to know about God, they would be equal with God. Thus, God’s words by which He attracts us to Himself serve to tell humanity that they are not gods themselves.

God Attracts Us to himself in the Book of Ecclesiastes

As we proceed to read the Bible, we find these words: “And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12.

Here God attracts us to Himself with the hint that there are actually only three divine Parents of the human race, namely, the Spirit of God, the Father, and the Son. How can we know for sure? Well, we need to just continue reading the Bible and see what else we find about God.

God Attracts Us to Himself in the Book of Isaiah

Our next stop in reading through the Bible is the book of Isaiah where we find these words: “Whom shall he [God] teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine [teachings from the Bible]? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept [moral instruction] must be upon precept [moral instruction], precept [moral instruction] upon precept [moral instruction]; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.” Isaiah 28:9, 10.

Here God attracts us to Himself by encouraging us in our Bible reading to connect together the Bible’s teachings which we find scattered through the book into various stories. In fact, these many stories make up the one grand story that the whole Bible tells.

So, God confirms that our approach to learning about God from the Bible is the right one.

God Attracts Us to Himself in the Book of Matthew

As we read through the Bible, we next stop at the book of Matthew where we read these words: “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16, 17.

Here God attracts us to Himself by this story of the Spirit of God and a voice from heaven calling Jesusmy beloved Son.” Matthew 3:17. Clearly, the voice from heaven is that of the Father but, Is Jesus the same divine Person as the Son? It would seem so since there is only one Son who is a divine Parent of the human race.

Now you may be asking, How many Parents does the human race have? Three, or more than three? The answer is that there can be no doubt that there are only three Parents mentioned in the Bible.

A related question is, Are there three Gods, each of which attracts us to Himself? Hold on to this question for the moment as we will see that the Bible gives a clear answer to this question.

God Attracts Us to Himself in the Book of Hebrews

Our next stop in reading through the Bible is the book of Hebrews where we find these words by which God attracts us to Himself: “For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God [was]…without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.” Hebrews 7:1-3.

Note that the interpretation cannot be that Melchisedec, a human being, has always existed just like God. For all human beings are born and they die, that is, their lives have a beginning and an end.

The point here is that Melchisedec is symbolic of Jesus, the Son of God who has always existed. So, this makes it clear that Jesus is not a child of the Father.

Note that we can also show from the Bible that all three divine Parents of the human race have always existed. In other words, there was never a time when they did not exist.

A careful study of the Bible will show that the Father, Jesus—the Son of God, and the Spirit of God are all equals. None is superior or inferior to the others.

So, God attracts us to Himself with the thought that all three Parents of the human race are deserving of at least equal honour.

God Attracts Us to Himself in the Book of 1 John

Our last stop as we read through the Bible is in the book of 1 John where we find words with which God attracts us to Himself.

First, these words in 1 John: “God is love.” 1 John 4:8. Good news, isn’t it? God definitely attracts us to Himself when He says that He is a loving Parent of the human race.

Second, these words in 1 John: “For there are three [divine Persons] that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word [who is Jesus, the Son of God], and the Holy Ghost [the Holy Spirit]: and these three are one.” 1 John 5:7. But what does this mean? How are the three Parents of the human race one?

The answer from a study of the Bible is that they never contradict each other at any time. Thus, they can be said to be one because they speak with one voice.

So, now we are prepared to understand the Bible when it says, “Hath not one God created us?” Malachi 2:10. “For there is one God; and there is none other but he.” Mark 12:32.

Note that a collective name in the Bible for the three divine Parents of the human race is “the Godhead.” Acts 17:29.

Thus, God attracts us to Himself with the thought that all three divine Parents of the human race dwell in harmony, and are loving. The Godhead is also meek and humble.

2. God Attracts Us Through Opening Our Spiritual Ears

Jesus, the Son of God, also known in the Bible as “Christ” (Matthew 1:1) said, “No man [no human being] can come to me [Jesus], except the Father which hath sent me [to dwell temporarily on the earth] draw him [to me].” John 6:44.

Here Jesus Christ refers to the fact that the entire human race has gone astray from God. So, to bring humanity to a knowledge of God, God must draw us, that is to say, God needs to attract us to Himself.

How? God does this through opening our spiritual ears thereby making us receptive to the things of God.

3. God Attracts Us Through Diversity in Nature and Humanity

As it is, there are millions of species of plants and animals on earth and billions of people.

Great is the diversity that we see in nature, from the butterfly to the ant, from the elephant to the fishes of the sea, from the clouds to the galaxies in the heavens. There are also people of all sizes, colour, and shape. No two people are exactly the same.

So, God attracts us to Himself as the One who loves diversity and His creativity knows no bounds.

4. God Attracts Us Through Beauty in Nature and Humanity

God, “He hath made every thing beautiful.” Ecclesiastes 3:11. So, not only is there diversity in nature and humanity, there is also beauty.

God says, “To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?” Isaiah 46:5. For consider the beauty of plants, animals, people, the heavens. The artistry of human beings cannot compare with that of God.

Thus, God attracts us to Himself as the Master Artist and the Lover of the Beautiful.

5. God Attracts Us Through Our Curiosity

You may not know it, but God causes people to “dream dreams.” Joel 2:28. “I [God] have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions [supernatural mental imagery from God], and used similitudes [symbolism], by the ministry of the prophets.” Hosea 12:10.

Thus, through these things, God attracts us to Himself by arousing our curiosity, leading us to desire to investigate and to seek knowledge and understanding of visions, similitudes, and dreams from God.

6. God Attracts Us Through Calming Our Fears

In the Bible, God addresses our fears, saying, “Forasmuch then as the children [the human race] are partakers of flesh and blood, he [Jesus Christ] also himself likewise took part of the same; that through [Jesus’] death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil [Satan, the angel who has rebelled against God]; and deliver them [the human race] who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage [to Satan].” Hebrews 2:14, 15.

“For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee [to humanity], Fear not; I will help thee.” Isaiah 41:13.

In fact, the words “Fear not” occur in the Bible dozens of times as God attracts us to Himself by calming our fears. Isn’t that wonderful? Yes, it is!

7. God Attracts by His Love for Us

Human beings love to be loved and God says, “God is love” (1 John 4:8) and “yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I [God] drawn thee [to myself].” Jeremiah 31:3.

Here God attracts us to Himself by His unconditional, everlasting love.

8. God Attracts Us by Comforting Us

On His part, God says of every person, “Behold, I [God] will allure [him or] her, and…speak comfortably unto [him or] her.” Hosea 2:14.

Thus, every human being can know that “the LORD [God]… talked with me with good words and comfortable words.” Zechariah 1:13.

Here we see that God attracts us to Himself by speaking good, comforting words to us.

9. God Attracts Us by Appealing to Our Conscience

As was said before, God is love. Therefore, God says to all humanity, “I pray [beseech] you…do not so wickedly.” Genesis 19:7. “Hearken [Pay attention] to the voice of the LORD thy God…to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.” Deuteronomy 13:18.

Thus, God attracts us to Himself by appealing to our conscience, our sense of right and wrong, that we may be like Him.

10. God Attracts Us Through Parenthood

Now God says, “He [God] maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children.” Psalm 113:9. “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD [God]: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Psalm 127:3.

Here God, who is a joyful Parent of humanity, attracts us to Himself by giving us the same joy that God Himself knows as a divine Parent.

11. God Attracts Us Through the Gospel

You may not know this, but the reality is that “there is not a just man [righteous person] upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not [does not do evil].” Ecclesiastes 7:20.

And “the wages of sin [which is evil and wrongdoing] is [eternal] death [that is to say, annihilation by God]; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23. Why? Because “he [Jesus Christ] is the propitiation [the Sacrifice, the One who died]…for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2.

In other words, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son [Jesus Christ], that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

Here then is really, really good news! God attracts us to Himself by the gospel which is God’s plan to save humanity from eternal death (annihilation) on account of their sins.

12. God Attracts Us Through His Promise of Forgiveness and Cleansing

You should know that God’s promise of the eternal life through the gospel is only for those who meet the following conditions: “Repentance [deep remorse and sorrow for sins] toward God, and faith toward [in] our Lord Jesus Christ.” Acts 20:21.

For “if we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.

Here God attracts us to Himself by the promise of the forgiveness of our sins and His cleansing us from all evildoing.

13. God Attracts Us Through His Faithfulness

God makes it clear that “I am the LORD [God], I change not.” Malachi 3:6. Therefore, it can be said of God in truth, “He [God] is faithful that promised.” Hebrews 10:23.

“Thy mercy, O LORD [God], is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.” Psalm 36:5.

Thus, God attracts us to Himself by the faithfulness of His promises to us.

14. God Attracts Us Through the Promise to Give Us Thrones

Let us consider what Christ says: “To him [or her] that overcometh [all sin] will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame [sin], and am set down with my Father in his throne.” Revelation 3:21.

So, God attracts us to Himself with the promise of giving us the privilege of sitting on Christ’s throne in heaven.

15. God Attracts Us Through Encouraging to Trust in Him

These words come down to us from God: “Trust in the LORD [God] with all thine heart” (Proverbs 3:5), for “blessed are all they that put their trust in him [God].” Psalm 2:12.

Here God attracts us to Himself with the promise to bless us when we trust in Him.

16. God Attracts Us Through Giving Us Hope

You, along with the rest of humanity, can be “looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13. For at that time, if you have overcome all sin, you will receive “an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, [which was] reserved in heaven for you [by God].” 1 Peter 1:4.

So, here God attracts us to Himself by the hope of our going to heaven with Jesus Christ when He returns to the earth.

17. God Attracts Us by Giving Us Joy

You “having not seen [Jesus Christ], [if] ye love [Him by the grace (blessing) of God]…though now ye see him not, yet believing [in Him, God will cause] ye [to] rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.” 1 Peter 1:8.

So, God attracts us to Himself by giving exceedingly great joy to those that meet the gospel requirements of repentance and faith in Christ.

18. God Attracts Us by Giving Us Peace

Regarding peace, God says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27.

Here “the God of peace” (Romans 15:33) attracts us to Himself by His promise to give us peace.

19. God Attracts Us by Promising Us a Better World

You may be asking, Will there ever be a better world? God answers by saying, “We, according to his [God’s] promise, [can] look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” 2 Peter 3:13.

Thus, God attracts us to Himself by His promise of a better world to come.

20. God Attracts Us Through His Truthfulness

Now God is “a God of truth and without iniquity [without wickedness], just and right is he” (Deuteronomy 32:4), a “God, that cannot lie.” Titus 1:2.

So, God attracts us to Himself by His promise to always speak truth to us for God cannot lie.

21. God Attracts Us by His Promise to Make Us Like Himself

What is the best that human beings can be in character? Well, God, “he also did predestinate [humanity] to be conformed to the image [to the character of love] of his Son [Jesus Christ].” Romans 8:29.

Here God attracts us to Himself with the promise that we can have a character of love identical to God’s own character of perfect love.

22. God Attracts Us by Satisfying Our Spiritual Needs

As regards to our spiritual needs, God, “he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.” Psalm 107:9.

That is, God attracts us to Himself by the fact that no matter what are the deepest longings of our hearts, God can and will satisfy them, if we will let Him.

23. God Attracts Us by Being a Sure Guide in an Uncertain World

Every human being can say of themselves in truth, “The LORD [God] is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:1-3.

Here God likens humanity to sheep under the tender, loving care of a Christ, the Shepherd.

So, God attracts us to Himself by the fact that God is a sure guide to all that is good, even in this uncertain world, and surely a guide in eternity in the future.

24. God Attracts Us by His Promise to Give Us Wisdom

Do you wish to be wise? Well, God says, “If any of you lack wisdom [which all humanity lacks], let him [or her] ask of God, that giveth to all men [to all people] liberally, and upbraideth [scolds] not; and it shall be given him [or her from God].” James 1:5.

Here God, who is wise, attracts us to Himself by His promise to make us wise.

25. God Attracts Us by Answering Our Prayers

Now as regards to prayers, God says, “This is the confidence that we [humanity] have in him [God], that, if we ask any thing according to his [God’s] will [which is righteous], he [God] heareth us: And if we know that he [God] hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him [of God].” 1 John 5:14, 15.

So then, God attracts us to Himself by His promise to answer our prayers by giving us what we ask for, if what we ask for is righteous.

26. God Attracts Us by Making Us His Special People

As it is, God says to those who are repentant and who have faith in Christ, “Ye are a chosen generation [by God], a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of [the] darkness [of sin] into his marvellous light [of perfect love].” 1 Peter 2:9.

“And they shall be mine, saith the LORD [God] of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him [from annihilation].” Malachi 3:17.

Thus, God attracts us to Himself by His promise to make those who meet His gospel requirements His own special people.

27. God Attracts Us by His Promise of Protection

Have you ever felt the need for protection? Well, God says, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD [those who meet God’s gospel requirements], and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD [God].” Isaiah 54:17.

Here then we see that God attracts us to Himself by promising to protect us from all spiritual harm. For sometimes God allows physical harm, even death, to come upon His own special people. But, even if so, such people can rest assured that they will receive eternal life from God.

28. God Attracts Us Through His Promise to Defeat Our Enemies

You should know that, if you come under God’s protection, you can say of yourself in truth, God will “plead my cause, O LORD [God], with them that strive with me: [and] fight against them that fight against me.” Psalm 35:1.

In other words, “when the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh [to harm me], [God worked such that] they stumbled and fell.” Psalm 27:2.

So, God attracts us to Himself by His promise to defeat our enemies when we come under His protection. Furthermore, there are times when God defeats the enemies of those who have not placed themselves under His protection, in order to draw them to Himself.

29. God Attracts Us by His Holiness

Now it is true of God that “the LORD [God] is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.” Psalm 145:17.

Here God attracts us to Himself by the fact that He is holy, that is, God does good and only good at all times.

30. God Attracts Us by Meeting Our Physical Needs

Does God care about our physical needs? Well, we can say of God in truth, “The eyes of all [living things, including humanity] wait upon thee [God]; and thou [God] givest them their meat [food] in due season. Thou [God] openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.” Psalm 145:15, 16.

Thus, God attracts us to Himself by the fact that God makes provision for all the physical needs of every living thing. It is humanity’s selfishness that causes some people to suffer for want of their physical needs being met.

31. God Attracts Us by His Promise of Eternal Pleasures

What will heaven be like? God’s answer is, “They [the people to whom God grants eternal life] shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy [God’s] house [with the prosperity of heaven]; and thou [God] shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures [forevermore].” Psalm 36:8.

Here God attracts us to Himself by His promise of unending pleasures in His kingdom to come.

32. God Attracts Us by Being Our Friend

As regards to friendship, God says, “Greater love hath no man [no person] than this, that a man [Jesus Christ] lay down his life for his friends [for all humanity]. Ye are my [God’s] friends [indeed], if ye do whatsoever I [God] command you” (John 15:13, 14), which is to say, if you do good and only good.

Here God attracts us to Himself by being a Friend to humanity, and by considering those people who do good at all times to be His friends.

33. God Attracts Us Through His Promise to Give the Earth to Humanity

Now God says, “The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men [to humanity].” Psalm 115:16.

For “the righteous shall inherit the land [the earth], and dwell therein for ever.” Psalm 37:29.

Thus, God attracts us to Himself by promising to give the earth to humanity, specifically, to those who receive eternal life from God.

34. God Attracts Us by Healing Our Emotional Wounds

Does God care if I have emotional pain? Well, it is true of God that “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3.

So, God attracts us to Himself by that the fact that, Yes, God does care! If we allow Him to, God will heal our broken hearts and all our emotional wounds.

35. God Attracts Us by His Promise to Bless All Aspects of Our Lives

In the end, God says, “It shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken [obey] diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments…that…all…blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee.” Deuteronomy 28:1, 2. “There shall be showers of blessing.” Ezekiel 34:26.

Thus, God attracts us to Himself by His promise of multiplied blessings if we obey His commandments which are all righteous.

God’s Purpose in Attracting Us to Himself

In all of this, God has a purpose why He attracts us to Himself. What is this purpose?

It is that “they [those who receive eternal life from God] shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain [in all the earth]: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD [God], as the waters cover the sea.” Isaiah 11:9.

Moreover, God’s purpose why He attracts us to Himself is that, “behold, the tabernacle [the dwelling place] of God is with men [with humanity], and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” Revelation 21:3. “And they shall see his [God’s] face.” Revelation 22:4.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4.

The sum of all this is that love, joy, peace, and harmony, will reign on earth and throughout the entire universe forevermore. How so? Because “the angels that sinned” (2 Peter 2:4), that is, Satan and his “evil angels” (Psalm 78:49), and all the wicked among humanity shall be annihilated by God.

Conclusion

In this post, we have outlined 35 ways God attracts us to Himself, but this is only a small fraction of the over 7,400 promises of God in the Bible.

These promises are all designed by God to attract us to Himself so that He can save us from annihilation, and instead give us eternal life. Isn’t that wonderful? Praise God that He draws us to Himself!

In all that God has done, let it not be in vain that Jesus Christ has suffered and died for you. What should you do? Seek God as your first priority in life such that you seek to be made holy by God.

The Bible Teaches Us How to Obtain Eternal Life from God

“In the beginning was the Word [Christ], and the Word [Christ] was with God, and the Word [Christ] was God.” John 1:1. “And the Word [Christ] was made flesh [was born as a baby boy named Jesus], and dwelt among us [human beings], (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father).” John 1:14. Thus, Christ, whose “name is called The Word of God” (Revelation 19:13) is the One who gave the whole Bible to humanity, from the Bible’s beginning to its end. Further, “God is love.” (1 John 4:8), which is to say, Christ is love.

And every one of you as a human being are to “lay apart [put away] all filthiness and superfluity [abundance] of naughtiness [of wickedness], and receive with meekness the engrafted [the implanted] word [from God, which is the Bible and], which is able to save your souls [from annihilation by God as the penalty for sin].” James 1:21. For the word of God, the Bible, being implanted in us means that “the love of God is shed abroad [is poured] in our hearts by the Holy Ghost [the Holy Spirit] which is given unto us.” Romans 5:5. So then, “love is of God; and every one [every human being] that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” 1 John 4:7. This is known as “justification” (Romans 4:25) which is accomplished by our repentance, that is, our deep sorrow for our sins and the gift of faith from God, which when exercised to believe God’s promise of forgiveness of sins and cleansing from sin brings us the gift of love from God. Note that everyone receives the gift of faith from God but without repentance people have a superficial faith and not saving (correct) faith that takes proper hold of God’s truth by the working of the Holy Spirit.

Immediately upon our justification, God tests our character to see if we will successfully resist all temptation to sin. Our success depends on our exercising faith in Christ’s keeping power through the Holy Spirit and, hence, we become sanctified (made holy) and thus receive eternal life from God.

And this is life eternal [everlasting life], that they [as human beings] might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent [to the earth as a Deliverer from sin].” John 17:3. Thus, when the whole Bible makes our character a character of perfect love, it means that we know God and, hence, we will receive eternal life from God.

How This Blog Teaches Bible Study

My blog posts take one or more Bible verses and unpack what is often the hidden meaning in them, to help you to gain in your understanding of the Bible, and to receive insights into how to study it. For God says, “Study [the Bible] to shew [show] thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing [interpreting] the word of truth [the Bible].” 2 Timothy 2:15. There are new blog posts every two weeks on a Monday at 12:01 a.m. in timezone UTC-5 (GMT-5).
